Families struggling with opioid addiction is a growing problem in the United States. This leads to a new fatality every 12 minutes. Our agency has recently taken a pledge to become Ambassadors for the #agentsofchange movement. With this campaign, we hope to help put an end to opioid dependency. Our agency is working in gathering community support to help families who are struggling with opioid addiction.
While opioid addiction is often seen as a problem that only affects illegal drug users, the reality is that heroin is only a small portion of the overall epidemic – many of the people addicted to opioids initially received them as a prescription from their doctors. In fact, a recent report from the National Institute of Drug Abuse revealed that 4 out of 5 heroin users can trace their habit back to prescription drugs.
